Objective
Encourage customers to preorder Halo 3: ODST for Xbox 360 by highlighting brand-exclusive pre-order bonuses.
Background
The latest release in Microsoft’s blockbusting Halo franchise, Halo 3: ODST was one of the biggest game launches of 2009.
Gamestation had been able to secure exclusive in-game content for their customers: a playable version one of the series’ most popular cult characters, Sgt. Johnson.
The work
As a copywriter I take an unusually visual approach to my work. This is a good example. Noticing the images we’d been provided of the Sgt. Johnson character looked a little like the “Your Country Needs You” WWII posters, I partnered with design to see if we could create something on-brand which riffed on that theme.
The work you see below was the result; mixing the catchy headline with Gamestation’s established bullet-driven house style for marketing mailers.
